Panelist Biographies

Wyan Chow

Wyan Chow holds the top spot for The North Face Singapore 50KM in 2016, Vibram Hong Kong 100 Ultra Trail Race in 2015 as well as being the fastest woman to complete the Oxfam Trailwalker team event in 2014. A professional athlete and coach, Wyan is a certified Triathlon, Running and Fitness Trainer. Formerly a police woman with the Hong Kong Police Force, Wyan was responsible for the physical training of the Anti-Terrorism Department.


Steven Quek

Steven Quek is the Head Coach (Distance Running) of ActiveSG Athletics Club and coach of Olympian marathoner Neo Jie Shi who participated in Rio 2016 Olympics. He is credited for leading various schools to national schools cross-country championships, and lectures at NIE/NTU (Fitness & Conditioning and Track & Field). Steven is also the author of the Physical Education textbook for Singapore secondary schools syllabus.


Luis Cunha

Luis Cunha is the Principal of the ActiveSG Athletics Club and a three-time Olympian (1988, 1992, 1996) representing Portugal. He is formerly the national sprints, relays and hurdles head coach where he guided Team Singapore athlete Dipna Lim-Prasad to winning a Silver medal and breaking multiple national records during the 2015 SEA Games. He was also the former head coach of Portugal’s national athletics team.


Melvin Tan

Melvin Tan is the Head Coach (Sprints) at the ActiveSG Athletics Club. Formerly the national sprints and relays coach where he brought the Singapore men’s 4x100m relay team to silver medals at the 2011 and 2013 SEA Games, and Team Singapore sprinter Gary Yeo to a silver medal at the 2011 SEA Games. He is also currently teaching in Raffles Institution.
