The Civic and Central Business District will be transformed into a cycle-friendly, walkable and activity-filled public space with something for everyone at the next Car-Free Sunday SG on 31 July 2016. The streets will come alive for families, joggers and cyclists who can look forward to activities ranging from fitness group exercises, kid-friendly activities to a breakfast picnic.

Roads will be closed from 7.30am to 10am. The walking, running and cycling route will now include Esplanade Drive, forming a 5km car-free stretch – comprising St Andrew’s Road, Stamford Road, Esplanade Drive, Fullerton Road, Shenton Way and Robinson Road. Connaught Drive will also be closed from 7.30am to 7pm to host a variety of community sporting events and activities.

Get Active and have fun at Singapore Cricket Club’s sports carnival with an array of sports try-out stations such as Rugby, Soccer Netball, Hockey, Tennis, Cricket and many more available for both children and adults to participate in.

Other activities include face painting, bubble football and laser tag will also be organised for all!


Look forward to an active morning with fun and games, as well as varied range of food and drink choices all at the Padang!

The Play Streets initiative converts the street into a giant playground offering a high-impact way to encourage more physical activity, particularly in neighbourhoods that often lack open space. With obesity and sedentary lifestyle on the rise amongst children in Singapore, more children are encouraged to meet the recommended 60 minutes a day of physical activity through play.

Introduction to Latin Jazz

Latin jazz is known for its exciting and percussive sound, combining Latin American rhythms with the improvisation and harmonies of jazz. Born in the melting pot of New York in the 1940s, this vibrant music spread to listeners worldwide. Mexican pianist and composer Alina Ramirez will take you through the building blocks of what defines Latin jazz and introduce some of the most important innovators and performers of the genre.

Christianity in Asia: Sacred Art and Visual Splendour presents fascinating and beautiful objects that are the result of the spread of the Christian faith across Asia. In this special exhibition, with loans from internationally acclaimed museums including Musée du Louvre and Bibliothèque nationale de France, you will see art that combines East and West. Asian materials and techniques were used to create paintings, carved ivory figures, ceramics, furniture, altarpieces, and shrines that aided the spread of Christianity.
