The Civic and Central Business District will be transformed into a cycle-friendly, walkable and activity-filled public space with something for everyone at the next Car-Free Sunday SG on 26 June 2016. The streets will come alive for families, joggers and cyclists who can look forward to activities ranging from fitness group exercises, kid-friendly activities to a breakfast picnic.

Roads will be closed from 7.30am to 10am. The walking, running and cycling route will now include Esplanade Drive, forming a 5km car-free stretch – comprising St Andrew’s Road, Stamford Road, Esplanade Drive, Fullerton Road, Shenton Way and Robinson Road.  Connaught Drive will also be closed from 7.30am to 7pm to host a variety of community sporting events and activities. 

Note: Flag off along St. Andrew’s Rd will start at 8am instead of 7.30am. However, sports try-out stations at Connaught Drive and Esplanade Park will start as per normal

Arts in Civic District – Breakfast Concert

Bring your family and friends as we celebrate the arts in this edition of Car Free Sunday! Roll out your picnic mats to enjoy a special concert by the Philharmonic Winds orchestra, and groove to the live music with a dance workout! Get hands-on with fun arts activities, from screen printing your own tote bag to knitting on a life sized loom.

And don’t miss the yummy offerings at our popup breakfast bar, specially curated to bring the best of Singapore’s cafes to the Civic District!

The Jubilee Walk is an eight-kilometre trail that connects the past, present and future elements of the Singapore story, from ancient Temasek to the colonial era, to nationhood, rapid urban development and beyond.

Encompassing historic and iconic areas such as Fort Canning Hill, the Singapore River, the Civic District and Marina Bay, the Walk offers a chance to discover the people and communities who have contributed to our cityscape.

The exhibition showcases a series of Nyonya, a term for Peranakan women, in quintessential Peranakan settings painted through the eyes and vivid imaginations of the artist. Part of the proceeds from the sale of artworks will be donated to The Pertiwi Soup Kitchen in Malaysia to benefit the needy and homeless.
