The Civic and Central Business District will be transformed into a cycle-friendly, walkable and activity-filled public space with something for everyone at the next Car-Free Sunday SG. The streets will come alive for families, joggers, cyclists and fitness enthusiasts who can look forward to activities like ActiveSG-SCC Football @ The Padang, ActiveSG Basketball and Tennis Academies, ActiveSG Kids Play Zone, SaberFit and Functional Fitness.
 

Roads will be closed from 7.30am to 10am. The walking, running and cycling route will now include Esplanade Drive, forming a 5km car-free stretch – comprising St Andrew’s Road, Stamford Road, Esplanade Drive, Fullerton Road, Shenton Way and Robinson Road. Connaught Drive will also be closed from 7.30am to 7pm to host a variety of community sporting events and activities.

Free Trishaw Rides

Here’s a chance for the elderly and less-abled to experience wind in their hair on the 5.5km road closure route, in trishaws powered by volunteers! This initiative is kindly sponsored by cycling enthusiast Mr Han Jok Kwang.

In addition, non-profit organisation Cycling Without Age is also offering free rides on their custom built trishaw in 30-minute blocks.

Priority will be given to the elderly and less abled friends.

Mr Lee’s Bike Train

If you live in Bishan, you may have come across this interesting trail of happy people pedalling together.

Mr Lee will be bringing his unique handmade human-powered bicycle train to Car-Free Sunday to conduct rides for everyone. Children and the elderly will enjoy priority in the queue.

Look out for him at the starting point along St. Andrew’s Road, in front of the National Gallery. Each cycling tour will begin at every 30 minutes interval.

Play It Forward

Play it Forward Singapore is a homegrown public piano initiative founded by three piano nerds - Jean, Yan and Billy.

We work with local artists, designers and creative talents to refurbish old unwanted pianos into artistic installations. The public pianos are displayed in various parts of Singapore for anyone to play at any time of the day!

Since September 2015, we have refurbished 12 public pianos which have travelled over 16 locations in Singapore. The pianos are donated to local charities, schools and beneficiaries after their public run.

We love how the pianos have transformed public spaces in Singapore and brought different people through music and art.

This initiative is made possible with the support of the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore's #ourfaveplacesg programme.
