The 2014 Commonwealth Games (officially the XX Commonwealth Games) will be held in Glasgow, Scotland from 23 July to 3 August 2014. Held once every four years, the Commonwealth Games is often referred to as the 'Friendly Games' and will be one of the largest multi-sport event ever held in Scotland. 

The Commonwealth Games was first held in Hamilton, Canada in 1930 with 400 athletes representing 11 countries competing in six sports and 59 events. The scale of the Games has since expanded to become one of the world's second largest multi-sport event, with a participation of over 6,500 athletes from 71 nations participating in the 17 sports in 2014. 

Singapore will be sending 70 athletes to participate in seven sports - Aquatics, athletics, badminton, gymnastics, shooting, table tennis and weightlifting.
