SINGAPORE’s NATIONAL YOUTH ICE HOCKEY TEAM AIMS FOR PODIUM FINISH IN THE SOUTHEAST ASIA YOUTH CUP THIS SEPTEMBER

Following the encouraging second placing garnered by the national youth team in the 2018 Southeast Asia (S.E.A.) Youth Cup, the new youth squad is intensifying the training in hope of bringing home a medal for their country once again this year.

Fielded by an even smaller 11-member team with seven new players this year, the boys are younger with age ranging from 10 to 15. Thailand, the defending champion, will play host again where teams from Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Singapore will gather in Bangkok for the tournament this September from 9 to 13.

Said Joewe Lam, National Coach of Singapore National Youth Ice Hockey Team and Director of Singapore Men’s National Ice Hockey Team, “It is an uphill task to find new young players to replace the senior youths who have gone on to join the Men’s National Team. We are glad to have seven new players with us this year. The goal for the team remains unchanged: to bring home a medal and glory to Singapore in this annual tournament for the youths.”
