SWIMMING

The Men's 4 X 200m Freestyle Relay team brought home Singapore's first medal for the 18th Asian Games. Coming in at 7:14.5, the team won Bronze place and also set a new National Record. 

Earlier this morning, sisters Quah Jing Wen and Quah Ting Wen took part in the Women's 50m Butterfly Heats. Jing Wen finished at 9th position out of 27. She did not advance to the finals. Older sister Ting Wen came in 8th position out of 27 with a timing of 27:28 which qualified her for the Finals. During the Women's 50m Butterfly Finals, Ting Wen finished in 6th position out of 8 with a timing of 27:28 which was also her personal best.

In the Men's 200m Individual Medley Heats, Lonel Khoo finished 12th out of 21 with a timing of 2:06:12. He did not qualify for the Finals. Pang Sheng Jun came in 7th out of 21 with a timing of 2:02:63, bringing him into the Finals. During the Finals, Pang Sheng Jun finished 8th out of 8 with a timing of 2:03:08.

Over in the Men's 800m Freestyle, swimmer Lim Jun Wei Glen achieved a new Personal Best while setting a new National Record with a timing of 8:11:59. He Finished 4th out of 7.

In the Women's 100m Freestyle Heats, Christie Chue finished 9th out of 27 with a timing of 56:91. She did not advance to the Finals. Fellow swimmer Yeoh Chize Lin Cherlyn finished with a timing of 57:39, placing her in 11th out of 27. She did not advance to the Finals.

In the Men's 50m Backstroke Heats, Francis Fong Jia Yi finished with a timing of 26:48, placing him at 14th position out of 38. He did not advance to the Finals. Quah Cheng Wen finished with a timing of 25:54, placing him at 6th position, advancing him to the Finals. During the Men's 50m Backstroke Finals, Quah finished in 6th place with a timing of 25:53.

Samantha Yeo Qualified for the Women's 200m Breaststroke Heats Finals after getting a timing of 2:33:74 during the Heats which placed her in 7th out of 17 positions. During the Finals, she came in 8th out of 8 positions with a timing of 2:33:75.

EQUESTRIAN

The Equestrian Dressage Individual Qualifications witnessed both participants qualifying to Round 1. Roshni Ranjani Pannirselvam had a score of 64.382, placing her current rank at 19th out of 27. Alla Poloumieva ranks at 22nd position out of 27 with a score of 65.146. Round 1 will be happening on 21 August at 0900hrs.

SHOOTING

Martina Lindsay P Veloso managed to qualify for the Women's 10m Air Rifles Finals after scoring 624.3 during the Qualifications which placed her at 7th position out of 46. Fellow shooter Ser Xiang Wei Jasmin did not make it past the Qualification rounds after scoring 620.9, placing her at 13th position out of 46.

In the Men's 10m Air Rifle Qualification rounds, Sng Jian Hui scored 616.6, placing him at 26th position out of 44. He did not qualify for the Finals. Mohamed Irwan Bin Abdul Rahman scored 622.1, placing him at 13th position out of 44. He did not qualify for the Finals.

WUSHU

In the Women's Taijijian (Part 2/2) rounds, athletes Ho Lin Ying and Vera Tan Yan Ning came in 6th and 4th position out of 16 respectively. Ho had a score of 9.65. She currently ranks 6th out 16 with a total score of 19.33. Tan had a score of 9.67. She currently ranks 5th out of 16 with a total score of 19.33.

In the Men's Daoshu All Round, Jowen Lim Si Wei finished 3rd out of 10 positions with a score of 9.70. He is currently ranked 3rd adter the Daoshu part of the 2-part event.

 

Women's Taijijian (Part 2/2)

Ho Lin Ying

Score: 9.65. Finished 6th out of 16 positions

Ranked 6th out of 16 with a total score of 19.33.

Vera Tan Yan Ning

Score: 9.67. Finished 4th out of 16 positions.

Ranked 5th out of 16 with a total score of 19.33.

 

Men's Daoshu All Round

Jowen Lim Si Wei

Score 9.70. Finished 3rd out of 10 positions (currently ranked 3rd after the Daoshu part of the 2-part event)

Gunshu part is on 21 August, 1150hrs.

 

FENCING

Both female Fencers Amita Marie Nicolette Berthier and Wong Jie Xin Maxine made it into the Women's Individual Foil Round of 16 after both achieved 3 wins out of 4 bouts during the Preliminary rounds.

During the Preliminary rounds, Berthier won her first bout against Indonesia with a score of 5 : 0. She lost her second bout against Japan with a score of 3 : 5. She later won bouts 3 and 4 against Philippines with a score of 5 : 4 and Malaysia with a score of 5 : 0 respectively. During her Round of 16 match against China's Huo Xingxin, she lost with a score of 8 : 15. She did not qualify for the Quarterfinals.

Wong lost her first bout against Vietnam with a score of 3 : 5 during the Preliminary rounds. She won her second bout against Hong Kong with a score of 5 : 4 and later her third bout against Taipei with a score of 5 : 2. She won her fourth bout against Korea with a score of 5 : 1. In her Round of 16 match against Taipei's Yang Chinman, she won with a score of 15 : 8, moving her into the Quarterfinals. During the Quarterfinals, she lost to Korea's Jeon Hee Sook with a score of 7 : 15. She did not qualify for the Finals.

Tay Wei An Terry took part in several Men's (Artistic) Individual Qualifications rounds today. For the Vault Qualifications, he scored 13.175, placing him at 16th position out of 24. He did not advance to the next stage. In the Floor Exercise Qualifications, he finished at 41st position out of 62 with a score of 11.9000. He did not advance to the next round. In the Parallel Bar Qualifications, he came in 35th out of 58 after a score of 12.650. He did not advance to the next stage.

PARAGLIDING

Representing Singapore for Paragliding, Goh Soon Fen Jessica took part in the Women's Individual Accuracy Day 1, placing her at 14th position out of 18 with a score of 1000. For the Team's Accuracy Day 1, she scored 3000, placing her at 9th position out of 9. Both events will continue into Day 2 tomorrow on 21 August.
