SWIMMING

Swimmer Francis Fong Jia Yi finished 9th out of 38 in the Men's 100m Backstroke Heats with a timing of 56.09. He will not be advancing to the finals. In the Men's 200m Freestyle Heats, swimmers Yeo Kai Quan Danny and Jonathan Tan emerged 9th and 14th out of 34 respectively. Yeo had a timing of 1:50.39 while Tan had a timing of 1:51.52. Both swimmers will not be advancing to the finals.

In the Men's 200m Butterfly Heats, swimmers Quah Zheng Wen and Ong Jung Yi emerged 7th and 12th out of 19 respectively. Quah had a timing of 1:59.17 while Ong had a timing of 2:03.28. Ong will not be advancing to the finals. Quah, during the Men's 200m Butterfly Finals emerged 6th out of 8 positions with a timing of 1:57.95.

The Women's 100m Breaststroke Heats witnessed Ho Ru'en Roanne and Samantha Yeo competing against 24 other swimmers. Ho emerged with a timing of 1:12.01, placing her at the 13th position out of 26. Yeo had finished with a timing of 1:11.29, leaving her at 12th position out of 26. Both swimmers will not be advancing to the finals.

Hoon En Qi and Liew Li Shan Chantel competed in the Women's 200m Backstroke Heats. With a timing of 2:26.30, Hoon came in 14th position out of 18 while Liew came in 13th with a timing of 2.25.88. Both swimmers will not be advancing to the finals.

Comprising of Quah Jung Wen, Cherlyn Yeoh, Marina Chan, and Amanda Lim, the Women's 4 X 100m Freestyle Relay Heats came in 4th out of 10 with a timing of 3:45.99. The team came in 4th out of 8 in the finals, achieving a new National Record with a time of 3:44.21.

In the Women's 1500m Freestyle Finals, Gan Ching Wee set a new National Record while beating her Personal Best with a timing of 16:39.70. She came in 5th out of 7.

Rower Joan Poh Xue Hua completed the Women's Single Sculls Heats with a timing of 9:48.40, landing her in 9th out of 11 positions. She will be competing the Repechages on 21 August.

SHOOTING

2018 Asian Games - Team Singapore - Shooting - Mixed Team 10M Air Pistol - Qualification - Jakabaring International Shooting Range, Palembang, Indonesia - August 19, 2018 - Teh Xiu Hong (L) and Gai Bin of Singapore compete. Photo by SportSG

Shooters Martina Lindsay Veloso and Mohamed Irwan bin Abdsul Rahman finished in 6th out of 22 positions in the Mixed Team 10m Air Rifle Qualification Rounds with a score of 829.7. They will not advance to the finals.

Their Air Pistol compatriots, The Xiu Hong and Gai Bin emerged in 12th position out of 21 with a score of 753-22x in the Mixed Team 10m Air Pistol Qualifications. They will not advance to the finals.

WUSHU

Yong Yi Xiang came in 6th position for the Men's Changquan Finals with a score of 9.65. Fellow Wushu athletes Vera Tan Yan Ning and Ho Lin Ying completed the Women's Taijiquan rounds with a score of 9.66 and 9.65 respectively. Tan ranked 6th position while Ho came in 8th position in the 2-part event. Both ladies will be competing in the Taijijian Rounds on 20 August.

FENCING

Lau Ywen advanced to the Women's Individual Sabre Round of 16 after winning 2 bouts of 4. She won her first bout against Kazakhstan with a score of 5:4 and then later in the second bout against Thailand with a score of 5:3.  She lost her 3rd bout against China with a score of 1:5 and then her 4th bout against Hong Kong with a score of 2:5.

During the Women's Individual Sabre Round of 16, she went up against Japan's Tamura Norika and lost with a score of 7:15. Lau will not be advancing to the Quarter Finals.

 

Fencing Women's Ind Sabre Round of 16

Won 2 bouts of 4 (Advanced to Round 16)

Won 1st bout against KAZ 5:4 and 2nd bout against THA 5:3

Lost 3rd bout against CHN 1:5 and 4th bout against HKG 2:5

Lost to JPN 7:15 against Tamura Norika (Did not advance to Quarter Finals)
