TeamSG in Action: Pride on home ground

There will be lots for us to look forward to this June, with several important competitions set to take place on home soil.
It is going to be an action-packed month, as many of our TeamSG athletes get ready to face international competition on home soil and beyond! Check out what we can anticipate right here.

Sun, sand, sea – and intense competitions will be the order of the day at Siloso Beach from 21 - 24 June, when the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour arrives on our shores. Head down to catch the action from top international players and local stars alike, including our Commonwealth Games representatives Lau Ee Shan and Ong Wei Yu.

It promises to be a milestone for Singapore’s cuesports scene come 2 - 6 June as we play host, for the first time ever, to a World Billiards ranking event. Our very own five-time world champion Peter Gilchrist – and his teammates – will go up against some of the continent’s best in the Asian Grand Prix (World Billiards Championships), held at the Cuesports Training Academy at Katong Shopping Centre.

Over in China, the FINA Diving World Cup (5 - 10 June) will feature Singapore’s SEA Games diving medallists Myra Lee, Freida Lim, Mark Lee, and Jonathan Chan. Keep supporting them as they work to do the nation proud in the international arena, while getting competition experience ahead of the Asian Games (18 August - 2 September)!

With the Asia-Oceania Floorball Confederation Women’s Cup taking place on home ground from 18 - 23 June, we will get to watch the likes of Amanda Yeap, Ong Hui Hui, and Siti Nurhaliza battle it out against top regional talents. Admission is free, so be sure to cheer our team on at Our Tampines Hub!

Over at Queenstown Stadium, our national rugby players will be going up against the continent in the Asia Rugby Women’s Championship Div 1 tournament, buoyed by home support. They will play from 2 - 8 June, while the men’s team will head to the Philippines from 23 - 27 June to play in the Asia Rugby Men’s Championship Div 1 tournament.

Our Olympic champ Joseph Schooling is back home, and he will be racing alongside Singapore’s other top aquatics talents, such as Roanne Ho, Quah Ting Wen, and more! Catch them all in action at the 14th Singapore National Swimming Championships 2018 (20 - 23 June), at the OCBC Aquatic Centre.
Certainly, not forgetting our other swim stars – show your support for Theresa Goh, Yip Pin Xiu, Danielle Moi, Toh Wei Soong, and Sophie Soon, as they gear up to compete in the IDM Berlin 2018 (7 - 10 June).

We have been enjoying pro tennis matches over at the Kallang Tennis Centre, thanks to a series of International Tennis Federation ranking tournaments, which began on 12 May and will run till 16 June. The likes of Shaheed Alam, Steve Ng, Roy Hobbs, and Charmaine Seah will feature, so head down to cheer them on live!
