TeamSG in Action: Big names geared up for great results

Several major overseas competitions are on the cards for TeamSG this month, so get ready for awesome action from some of our best sporting talents.
The Commonwealth Games may be done and dusted, but it is business as usual for TeamSG! This May, some of our most accomplished athletes will take to the international stage, all set to do their best for Singapore in various major meets.

Diroy Noordin in action at the 9th ASEAN Para Games

It will be a busy month with three competitions lined up for our track and field athletes. They will start with the Beijing 2018 World Para Athletics Grand Prix, also known as the 6th China Open Athletics Championships, from 7 - 14 May. A team of 14 TeamSG athletes, comprising the likes of Diroy Noordin, Lionel Toh, and Zac Leow, will be participating.
Diroy, along with fellow Paralympian Suhairi Suhani, will then head to Italy for the World Para Athletics Grand Prix - Italian Open Championships 2018 (15 - 21 May), and Switzerland for the World Para Athletics Grand Prix, ParAthletics (21 - 28 May).

Experienced equestrians and Paralympians Laurentia Tan and Maximillian Tan will take the stage from 23 - 27 May, gunning for glory at the CPEDI3* Stadl-Paura competition in Austria. They will be going up against some of the best in the world, so be sure to show your support!

It is time for our Muay Thai fighters to shine this month, with the IFMA Muay Thai World Championships 2018 taking place from 10 - 19 May. Cheryl Gwa, who finished top eight in last year’s edition of this prestigious competition, will be battling it out alongside national team captain Chai Kai Quan in Mexico.
Aishah Samad at the 8th ASEAN Para Games
Our shooters are on form, and they are expecting to put up strong performances at the 2018 Cheongju World Shooting Para Sport Championships, which runs from 1 - 11 May. Aishah Samad, who is vying for a spot on Singapore’s Asian Para Games contingent, will head up to South Korea with teammates Logaraj S/O Raju and Chan Han Siong.

Our young squash player Sneha Sivakumar is working to make her mark on the professional circuit, and the Court Tech Women’s PSA Classic 2018 (22-27 May) is just one of many competitions that you can expect to see her playing in over the next few years. Keep your eyes peeled for more from this rising star!
Toh Wei Soong at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games
Some of our most notable para swimmers, from Paralympics medallists Yip Pin Xiu and Theresa Goh to recent Commonwealth Games medallist Toh Wei Soong, are getting ready to race their hearts out at the British Para Swimming International Meet 2018. The competition takes place from 31 May - 3 June, and our stars are currently training their hardest to do the nation proud.

From 8 - 12 May, our multiple ASEAN Para Games gold medallist Ismail Hussain, will be marking a new milestone for Singapore. Slated to take part in the PBF 2nd Philippine International Open 2018 in Manila, a competition for able-bodied bowlers, Ismail is all ready to show the region just what he’s capable of.
