Team Singapore's Toh Sze Ning and Jeralyn Tan did the country proud despite failing short of gold on Friday at the 9th ASEAN Para Games.

Sze Ning beat defending champion Visaratanunta Tanimpat from Thailand 6-3 to clinch the bronze in the Boccia mixed individual BC3 category, while Jeralyn fell 1-5 to Thai athlete Tipmanee Subin in the mixed individual BC1 category to finish fourth.

In the day's earlier semi-finals, Sze Ning lost 0-6 to Thailand's Chaemchoi Ekkarat, while Jeralyn was defeated by Huadpradit Witsanu 9-0.

Having missed out on a gold in the 2015 edition, Sze Ning came into the match looking to qualify for her second consecutive finals at the Games.

However, she got off to a slow start in the first end, going behind 0-3. 24-year-old Sze Ning has an incredible track record in the sport, having played boccia for more than 10 years.

She even earned a historic 4th placing at the 2016 Paralympics, alongside BC3 Pairs partner Nurulasyiqah Mohammad Taha.

But she found the going tough as her Thai opponent added one point in the second, third and fourth ends to ease to victory.

Jeralyn on the other hand, faced one of the toughest challenges as she was up against Huadpradit, the defending champion.

While Jeralyn put up a tough fight in the first set, going down 0-1, the second end proved a costly one for the Singaporean, as she went behind 0-6 after five unanswered points. The Thai then went on to take the game after adding three points in the final two ends.
