TeamSG in Action: Basketball, netball, and squash events live this December!

The year might be drawing to a close but our athletes will be competing in full force across various sports this month. With so many competitions in the calendar, you can stay updated on the latest developments by following our regular “TeamSG in Action” series on our website and Facebook page. Be sure to support all our athletes as #OneTeamSG!

A new season of the ASEAN Basketball League (17 Nov-28 Mar) has commenced, and the Singapore Slingers will be battling hard for glory! TeamSG Basketballer Desmond Oh will be leading the squad again this season, and fans can also look forward to other familiar faces like Ng Hanbin, Russel Low, and Delvin Goh.

The team has a hectic few months ahead of them, and your support will certainly give them an edge. Catch all their home games at the OCBC Arena by purchasing tickets here:

After beating South Korea and Malaysia to clinch a qualification slot, our TeamSG Women’s Floorball team is currently in Bratislava, Slovakia for the 11th World Floorball Championships 2017, which runs from 1 to 9 Dec! The squad will be playing in Group C in the preliminary stages, taking on Slovakia, Australia, and Estonia.

Keep a lookout for our TeamSG Skaters this December – they will be heading down under for the Australian Figure Skating Championships (2 Dec) and the Australian Open Short Track Champions (8 Dec)! Following their impressive medal haul at the recent 29th SEA Games in KL, our figure skaters Yu Shuran and Chloe Ing, as well as speed skaters Lucas Ng and Cheyenne Goh, will be hoping to do us proud once more!

Singapore’s biggest annual netball event, the Nations Cup is back this year from 3 to 9 December! Fans can watch our TeamSG Netballers, including Captain Vanessa Lee, and Co-Vice-Captains Nurul Baizura, and Charmaine Soh, work their magic on the court, as they go up against opponents like the Cook Islands, Hong Kong, Ireland, Malaysia, and Swaziland.

Our TeamSG Shooters are looking forward to the 10th Asian Air Gun Championships this month! Our group of 30 athletes, including Teo Shun Xie, and SEA Games gold medallists Jasmine Ser and Martina Veloso, will be competing in Wako, Japan from 6 to 12 Dec, and will certainly put in their best for #OneTeamSG.

There is plenty of squash action coming up at the Kallang Squash Centre this December! Back from their victorious SEA Games campaign, KL champions Vivian Rhamanan, Samuel Kang, Pang Ka Hoe, and Benedict Chan, will be competing in the Singapore Squash Open (5-10 Dec). Meanwhile, SEA Games silver medallists Timothy Leong and Sneha Sivakumar, and bronze medallist Au Yeong Wai Yhann will also be battling it out in the Singapore Junior Squash Open (12-16 Dec)!

Some 600 youth athletes are expected to compete in 9 sports at the Asian Youth Para Games in Dubai this 10 to 14 Dec! Led by our Paralympic champion Yip Pin Xiu, Team Singapore will be sending 28 competitors, who will represent us in athletics, badminton, boccia, swimming, table tennis, as well as ten-pin bowling. Look out for our TeamSG athletes such as sprinter Lionel Toh, shuttler Akram Ramadan, boccia player Faye Lim, swimmer Wong Zhi Wei and paddler Jamien Wong!

As the rest of us wind down for the rest of the year, our TeamSG athletes will be working hard to do us proud! Let’s cheer them on as #OneTeamSG, so they can feel our support and follow their latest development on Team Singapore Facebook page!
