Founded in 1949, The Singapore Chess Federation (SCF) is the principal authority over all chess events in Singapore. The Federation is affiliated with the World Chess Federation, ASEAN Chess Confederation, and members of the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) and Singapore Sports Council (SSC). SCF registered itself as a society under the Societies Act in 1961 and is also an Institute of Public character, and a non-profit organization with charitable status.

The Federation organizes all National Chess Tournaments in Singapore such as the National Schools Individual Chess Championships, National Age Group Chess Championships, and more. The SCF also trains the National Junior Squad whom from time to time represents Singapore in various Regional and International Tournaments.

Aside striving for Sports Excellence, SCF also conducts Chess Courses for various amateur players to learn and improve their chess skills. Various dialogue sessions and are conducted from time to time to educate the public on the benefits of chess and also to receive opinions and feedback from members of our chess community.
