Singapore went down 1-2 against Hong Kong in their opening match for the AFC U16 Championship 2020 Qualifiers that is currently ongoing from 17 to 21 September.

Singapore had taken an early lead after Khairin Nadim Rahim scored in the 9th minute but Lee Tsz Hin equalised for Hong Kong before half time. It looked like it was going to be all square until the referee awarded a penalty to Hong Kong in the dying minutes of the match, which Lee Lok Him converted to give Hong Kong all three points.

Singapore has been drawn in Group I alongside DPR Korea, Guam and Hong Kong. The 11 group winners, together with the four best runners-up, will qualify directly for the finals next year.

They will play DPR Korea next on 19 Sep at 8pm, at the Jalan Besar Stadium. Tickets are currently on sale at www.fas.org.sg/tickets
