And so the inevitable happened, Manchester City won back-to-back titles despite Liverpool pushing them all the way. Editor's thoughts: And with that the curtains come down on yet another thrilling season where Manchester City did something that hasn't been done in a while, i.e. win the league consecutively. Liverpool gave it their all but it wasn't to be as they finished second best. In a season that promised so much, they could seriously end up empty-handed if they fail to beat Spurs in the Champions League finals. Like I mentioned previously, it was always going to be difficult for Liverpool once they surrendered the lead and were playing catch-up. Manchester City is a machine and they made sure that nothing was left to doubt on the final day of the season as they ensured that everything was in their own hands. Over in the red half, Ole has his hands full in terms of rebuilding the club as Man United simply rolled over and played dead against Cardiff on the last day of a season they can't wait to forget. United fans will wait with bated breath to see who leaves and who arrives in the summer and whether they will indeed be back amongst the big boys again next season.
