The world’s top 50 triathletes are coming to Singapore for the finale of the Super League Triathlon(SLT) on 23 and 24 of February 2019. Athletes will race in five different categories - the triple mix, eliminator, equaliser, sprint enduro and enduro, with distances shorter than the traditional Olympic distances of a 1.5km swim, 40km bike ride and a 10km run.
However, for the finale here in Singapore, athletes will only be competing in both the Enduro and Eliminator formats, with a twist! Those competing in Singapore will be awarded double points for their placings in the final challenge of the season.

The enduro format, considered one of the most brutal formats of all, comprises of three continuous rounds of 300m swim, 5km bike ride and a 1.6km run. The slowest pair at the end of each discipline will be immediately eliminated, and the winner will be the first athlete to across the finish line upon completion of the entire race sequence.
Guest-of-Honour, Ms Grace Fu, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, will be competing in the Team Enduro Race. She will team up with Thaslim Hajanajubudeen (cycling), a SportCares athlete; and Lee Mei Shuang (swimming), a Team Singapore athlete. Two other teams comprising Team Singapore athletes will also be joining her in the same race.
The eliminator format aims to test the resilience, stamina as well as speed of the athletes in what is known as a “pressure cooker format”. Athletes will compete in three rounds of swim-bike-run with only a 10-minute break between each round. The top 15 from the first round will move on to the second round, and only the top 10 from the second round will make it through to the final circuit; and the first athlete to complete the entire circuit will be crowned as the “Master of Tenacity”
SLT in Singapore
This is the first year that Singapore will be hosting the Super League Triathlon and the race will take place at ONE°15 Marina and Sentosa Cove. In addition, the SLT is offering the local community an opportunity to run with the pros! A 2.5 kilometer loop around ONE°15 Marina and Sentosa Cove has been set out for runners of all ages and abilities to take part in, before stepping aside to watch the triathletes compete in the various categories of the race.
In commemoration of Team Nila's birthday, 50 Team Nila runners dressed in their iconic purple tops will be flagged off as the first wave for Saturday's Fun Run. 50 SportCares runners will also be flagged off as part of the second wave.
If you have your “running kakis”, you can even form teams of three with them and take part in the Team Enduro experience where you get to race, refuel and cheer on the pros. However this is only limited to 40 teams so if you are interested, you can sign up here!
The aim to include the local community in this triathlon is give everyone a feel of the excitement that comes from this type of racing. As the finale will be held in Singapore, Co-founder of SLT, Chris McCormack said this event should be made accessible to everyone who resides here, so that all can “experience and appreciate the athleticism and power of these athletes.”

McCormack added that “triathlon is coming to Asia in a huge way, and this event is the biggest event on a professional level the continent will have ever seen. Only the Olympics will post a field of similar talent in 2 years time and you would be crazy to miss this”
