25 athletes from seven sports will be representing Singapore in the world’s most prestigious sporting competition this year, making this the Republic’s 17th time in the Olympics.

World record holder for the Women’s 50m and 100m (S2) Backstroke Yip Pin Xiu said it was a privilege to be chosen as the flag bearer.
“I feel very honoured and grateful to be given the opportunity to lead the contingent in as the flag bearer,” she said.
“And of course, I am also very excited and nervous at the same time to watch my fellow Team Singapore athletes compete.”
“We have all been training very hard for this year’s Paralympics, so regardless of our results, we should all be very, very proud of ourselves.”
Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Grace Fu, who graced the event, said the athletes have the whole country supporting them in their endeavours.
“They have been training very hard and many have made sacrifices for this day so we wish them the very best,” she said.
“I'm sure they will put in all they have to bring a lot of pride and glory to Singapore.”
