Adidas has done it again. This time, they have created the world's first truly laceless professional football boot that is as much performance driven as it is easy on the eyes, the Ace 16+ Purecontrol. Professional football players like Mesut Ozil, Ivan Rakitic and James Rodriguez unveiled the much talked about black-out prototype back in January on Instagram.
Adidas has managed to revolutionise the regular football boot by replacing the conventional laces with three key points of stability, to secure the foot into the boot while still providing a large strike surface area, while not interfering with a player's control of the ball.
Aside from that, the Ace 16+ Purecontrol; has a TPU cage that locks over Adidas’s signature three stripes to secure the midfoot. To provide further security, there is also a seamless upper and internal knitted techfit locking system which results in a perfect fitting boot that has a larger surface area to generate the power and accuracy needed for any goal-scoring kick.
Ozil was selected as one of the select players to parade the Ace 16+ Purecontrol on the pitch since late January, and has been integral in its development.
"My whole career I have tried to minimise the impact of laces on my strike and ball control. I revealed to Adidas in 2014 that in the changing room I knot the laces over and over again and then tuck in the ends, that way they do not interfere with my touch. When they came to me last year with the laceless boots, it was like they have created my dream product. I cannot wait to wear them on the pitch," said Ozil.
Availability and Price
The Adidas Ace 16+ Purecontrol is only available in Solar Green and Shocking Pink and is currently unavailable in sunny Singapore. Oh, but don’t expect its price to come anywhere near cheap when it eventually does.
