Staff and partners of Sport Singapore gathered at The Float @ Marina Bay on Thursday evening to celebrate their 43rd anniversary through a mini sports carnival.
The governing body of sport also paid homage to Team NILA volunteers, who have been contributing to the success of various sporting events since last year’s Southeast Asian Games.

Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Grace Fu and Permanent Secretary Yeoh Chee Yan graced the event alongside Sport Singapore chairman Richard Seow and chief executive officer Lim Teck Yin.
In a speech addressing all attendees, Ms Fu acknowledged the ground work done by Sport Singapore staff and Team NILA volunteers that contributed to the success of recent events such as the Singapore National Games and GetActive! Singapore week.
“It’s the energy that really motivates us and supports us and we really appreciate what you’re doing,” said Fu.
Led by the various sport academies that were launched earlier this year, staff and volunteers took part in various modified sports such as basketball, football, athletics and tennis. Novelty activities such as bubble football and a water-dunking machine were also highlights of the event.
Besides the anniversary celebration, ActiveSG director Abdul Rahman Hassan highlighted that the event was held “in appreciation of their dedication and spirit of volunteerism.”

Team NILA volunteer Angela Schooling, who is also the aunt of Olympian Joseph Schooling, was happy that Sport Singapore was recognising the efforts of their volunteers.
“I’m very proud to be a part of Team NILA and I think it’s time that recognition is given to volunteers, because volunteerism is something that should come from the heart,” said the 62-year-old.
“I’m very glad to see not only the young ones, but the elderly also coming forward to volunteer their time and I think it’s a very good thing for all Singaporeans.”
