There are dozens, if not hundreds, of different types of tea available. While only the discerning tea enthusiast will be able to tell the difference between each one, there are many different health benefits that each tea provides.
One of the most popular teas around, chamomile is a type of herbal tea that is rich in antioxidants, which slow the negative effects of cancer cells. Additionally, chamomile tea contains slight sedatives that helps with sleep and anxiety.
A floral tea, hibiscus tea has been known to help lower high blood pressure. Studies have concluded that taking around three cups of hibiscus tea – made from the dried petals of hibiscus flower – has comparable effects to taking hypertension medicine.
Green tea is, without doubt, one of the most commonly consumed teas in the world. Many studies have proven that green tea is able to aid in raising metabolism in most people, which is why green tea is commonly used as an ingredient in weight loss supplements.
White tea is not as popular compared to other teas in Singapore, but it is one of the most healthy and beneficial teas around. Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, white tea has been used to prevent rheumatoid arthritis, and reduce joint inflammation.
Strawberry Leaf Tea
Strawberry leaf tea is made from strawberry leaves, and has historically been used to help cure diarrhea, indigestion as well as dysentery as it contains a high amount of tannins. Due to its fragrant and sweet taste, strawberry tea is an especially useful remedy for children.
Besides its refreshing taste, mint tea contains antispasmodic properties that is believed to aid in reducing nausea or queasy stomach. Many pregnant women turn to peppermint tea in particular to aid in their morning sickness.
