In a world where people complain they are just too busy to do good, a group of volunteers are doing the opposite by attempting to pull off Singapore’s most hard core walking event for a good cause.
Let’s Take A Walk (LTAW)
is a non-profit, 10km (individual), 50km (team) and 100km (team) endurance walking event organised by a core group of volunteers from Raleigh Society who share the conviction to Pay It Forward.
First started in 1997, this event challenges participants to push their mental and physical limits while raising funds for a good cause.
This year’s walk kicks off on 5 September at 0700hrs, starting from the National University of Singapore. 100KM walkers have 35 hours to complete their walk, while 50KM walkers have 15 hours.

The 9th edition of LTAW is based on the theme, Celebrate Life! It is a simple reminder to seize the day and to appreciate what we have in the present. Ultramarathoners who have joined LTAW have said to us: “Running 100km is easier than walking 100km! But the mental and physical rigour that one experiences in completing the arduous 100km walk is little compared to the challenges faced by those who struggle daily with chronic and severe illnesses.
This year, the LTAW team aims to raise $90,000 through registration fees and donations. All proceeds (less operating costs) will be donated to HCA Hospice Care to support end-of-life care, and also to Raleigh Society to support its community projects. LTAW team has decided to dedicate half of the proceeds to HCA as their ex-President Ms Lai Sheau Wen, had benefited from its free end-of-life support before she died in January from various cancers. Ms Lai, who had supported
many editions of LTAW, was made their posthumous Chairperson.
