Singapore’s sailing team came into these SEA Games with hopes of glory and they delivered by picking up four gold medals on Tuesday.
Colin Cheng, 25, won the men's Laser Standard event after starting the medal race with an eight point lead over Malaysia's Khairulnizam Mohd Afendy. Cheng then finished the medal race in first place.
Cheng’s success is no surprise - he has three Asian Games medals and competed in the 2012 London Olympics but this is his first appearance in a SEA Games.
The second gold for Singapore’s sailors on Tuesday came from Bernie Chin in the Men's Under-19 Laser Radial.
He finished first in the medal race having gone into the decisive phase with a five-point lead over Thailand's Apiwat Sringam.
