Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong graced EXPO on 12 June, visiting the various SEA Games competition venues held there. In each venue, he paused to interact with the respective Singapore Teams that were participating.

The Prime Minister’s visit to EXPO follows the visit by the President of Singapore Dr Tony Tan earlier this week, as Singapore hosts the Games once again after 22 years. Other Singaporean ministers that made an appearance at EXPO are Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Mr Lawrence Wong, and Minister for Social and Family Development Mr Tan Chuan-Jin.

The sports currently hosted at EXPO for the 28th SEA Games are Silat, Sepak takraw and Taekwondo. Judo, Chinlone and Boxing events finished earlier in the week.
The Prime Minister sat in the spectator stands for Silat Men’s & Women’s Tanding Class D (60-65kg) events, cheering on the win for Singapore’s Nurul Suhaila Mohamed Saifu against Indonesia’s Supparat Keawkaew during the Women’s Tanding Class D (60-65kg).
Other than speaking and posing for photographs with the Sepak takraw, Silat and Taekwondo teams, he especially commended Taekwondo’s Chelsea Sim and Kang Rui Jie for their gold and bronze medals in the Individual Poomsae and Mixed Team Poomsae respectively.
