Organisers of the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore (SCMS) 2015 today announced a 19-act entertainment line-up, designed to make Singapore’s marquee running event a fitting sporting finale to the nation’s jubilee year.

The fun will begin at 7:30am on Saturday 5 December, when the Kids Dash sounds the start of a two-day running celebration. Staged in conjunction with the 8th ASEAN Para Games (APG), the Kids Dash will see up to 5,000 children aged 13-and-under complete the 700m route around the Singapore Sports Hub before enjoying the entertainment at the Kids Carnival. Staged for the first time in 2015 as a standalone event, the Kids Dash will enable children to enjoy being part of SCMS 2015 before witnessing APG.

Runners taking to the streets on Sunday 6 December will have plenty to keep them motivated, as organisers announced a record number of on-route performers, aimed at helping runners beat the pain-barrier while providing non-stop entertainment for the legions of road-side supporters.

Runners taking part in the full Marathon can expect a combination of the Urban Drum Crew and stilted LED robots to help them navigate their way over the start line at Orchard before sunrise. Half Marathon runners will cross the start line at Sentosa to the rhythmic tunes of Baracuda Batucada, a group of samba drummers from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, while the 10km run, which flags-off on the Esplanade Bridge, will get their inspiration from the athletic Invincible Cheerleaders.

After each start, the artists will relocate to designated spots on the 42km Marathon route, and will be joined by other performers including nine-piece brass ensemble; Sambal drum group Sambateria; a saxophone playing unicyclist; two-piece band The Passerby; and percussion group Rhythm De Pasion. In all 19 acts will perform along the marathon route, adding to the carnival atmosphere and making SCMS 2015 a year to remember.

Limited places remain available for the Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km Race on Sunday 6 December, as well as the 700m Kids Dash, which takes place on Saturday 5 December. Participants can sign up until Monday 30 November via the official SCMS website
