The Corporate Community Games (CCG), which was initiated in 2000, aims to promote harmonious relationships and community bonding among the corporate sector. Held over 5 weekends from 3 October to 1 November 2015, CCG saw the participation of 392 teams from 46 organisations competing in 10 sports across the island.
In line with Sport Singapore’s Vision 2030 Corporate League strategy to promote sport and an active lifestyle at the workplace, CCG aims to be an avenue for the corporate sector to form new friendships, cultivate interest in sports, and use sports as a vehicle to promote community bonding and healthy living.
At the tenpin bowling event held last weekend at Orchid Bowl, teams from DBS and Singtel out bowled 59 other teams to clinch first place in the men’s and mixed categories respectively.

Fabian Chan from Marina Bay Sands, who participated in the CCG for the first time on Saturday, said such events have helped him expand his network and social circle within the company.
“It helps in our work life balance and get together with various departments. We are all from different departments, so it’s good to get to meet each other, gather together and play, and just be merry,” he said.
“We have been organising fun bowls in our own company and we decided to take a step forward and join the corporate community.”
Dominic Koh of MasterCard, also a first timer at the CCG, also shared similar sentiments and felt concurred that social activities such as CCG contributed to improved working relationships and higher efficiency.
“I think playing in a team here, getting to know colleagues from other departments, you get to know people better and build networks and relationships with people so it helps with work,” he said.

“But beyond just improving your social network, sports and games outside of work can also help improve efficiency at work”, said Sheila Ranjit of Singtel.
“I actually get to know more people and in Singtel, we need to know a lot of people because our services are very interlinked,” she said.
“So when we know people, it is easier to get our work done. It helps in terms of team work and getting to know more people.”
While companies strive to attain the highest accolade in the respective events, it was certain that the participants benefitted beyond the competition itself. CCG provided the platform for employees from different organisations to interact, forge new friendships and create a shared experience together while keeping fit at the same time.
