The Singapore Sports Hub held its inaugural event on Friday, 27 June 2014, with a 6,000-strong crowd turning out to participating in opening of the new National Stadium and participate in festivities of the One Year Countdown to the 2015 SEA Games.

Graced by Minister for Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY), Mr Lawrence Wong, and Minister of Prime Minister’s Office, Mr Lim Swee Say, participants toured the Sports Hub for the first time.

A confluence between Singapore’s past and the present, the Sports Hub stands tall along the Kallang river as a national heritage icon, and as Singapore’s premier land and sea sports, entertainment and lifestyle destination, serving as the heartbeat for all things Singapore sports related.

Featuring a unique cluster development of integrated world-class sports facilities within the city, it will not only spur the growth of the sports industry, excellence and participation - but also take sports to the next level in Singapore.

Walk a Jog

Touted as Asia’s primary integrated sports hub, the 55,000-seater National Stadium is only the icing on the cake. Located minutes away from the heart of the city, the 35-hectare Singapore Sports Hub is accessible to the public and metres away from Stadium MRT station.

Various facilities abound including the Water Sports Centre, OCBC Aquatic Centre and OCBC Arena. Joggers and cyclists are now able to visit the Sports Promenade, which is accessible 24 hours daily and is connected to a island-wide network of park connectors.

The Visitor Centre serves as a one-stop information centre for the Sports Hub where stadium tours are conducted. The upcoming Splash-N-Surf facilities such as surfing ride, lazy river and creative water play area for toddlers also mean that a family day out will never be the same again.

Not only is the Kallang Roar back, it promises to be bigger and better than before.
