It was the final ActiveSG open house event planned, and the best was saved for the last as a Superheroes-themed open house was held at Pasir Ris Sports Centre on May 10.
The highlight of the day was the Amazing Superheroes Race held for visitors. Similar to the concept of the popular television show 'The Amazing Race', participants had to navigate around the neighbourhood and complete challenges along the way.
At the main foyer, there was the Ultimate Crossover and Incredible Strength Challenge, with the latter allowing the males to flex their muscles and show off their masculinity.
Moving over to the park, Swifty Waves Steps was held and as its name suggested, moving quickly was the name of the game with participants willing each other on to complete a 1.3 kilometres track.

At the ever popular swimming pool, the Aquaman Quest attracted families by the throngs as they jumped into the cooling waters to seek some relief from the searing heat built up by the race and weather.
Even without diving into pool, visitors were still able to escape from the heat by entering the air-conditioned sports hall, where the Thunder Fly Swatter and Fireball Hoops were conducted.
Fireball Hoops is also known as wheelchair basketball and while the task looked simple, completion was not as frequent basketball players confident in their skills will attest to.
“It’s my first time in a wheelchair and it’s very hard to play and maneuver around… therefore,I really respect the wheelchair basketball players,” said Ng Jing Xiang, a youth who plays basketball regularly.
The outdoor courts held the Heavenly Triple Leg and Superpower Arrow Shootout. Young football fans were excited upon sight of the futsal arenas and started playing among themselves.
Many of the attendees too had their first try at archery and they loved the adrenaline rush from the drawing of the bow to releasing it.

“The event has been very great, it’s very fun and festive… The most interesting activities are the zumba workout and the wheelchair basketball as both are something new,” said Gabriel Tang.
Families were grateful for the hosting of the open house as they also took the chance to celebrate Mother’s day while completing the challenges and having fun together.
Flowers and fruits were given out as a sign of appreciation to all mothers, who were clearly touched by the gesture as children presented them with the flowers.
“Since today is Mother’s Day, I’ve brought my wife and kids here to have some family time… We went to Sengkang open house last week and we are here again cause we really enjoyed all the games,” said Sushil Daga.
