Singapore has contributed a lot to badminton: Hoyer

Singapore, 7 August 2013 – During his one-day visit to Singapore, enroute to China for the Badminton World Federation World (BWF) Championships, Mr Poul-Erik Høyer, newly elected President of the Badminton World Federation and Olympic Badminton Gold Medalist, took the opportunity to score a few points not just with local youth badminton players and also with some of the sport’s most important stakeholders. 

Høyer and BWF’s Chief Operating Officer, Thomas Lund, visited the Singapore Sports School (SSP), home of Singapore Badminton Association, and went on court to play a short game with aspiring badminton players. More than 20 players from the SSP and Singapore Badminton Association’s national intermediate squad had the chance to hear from Høyer on his experience from his competitive career.
“Singapore has many strong connections with the sport of badminton and has played a critical role in the development of badminton.

Our partners, OSIM International and Enterprise Sports Group, are Singapore-based companies. I hope we are able to build on the relationships we have with Singapore and explore more opportunities such as hosting marquee events at the new Singapore Sports Hub,” said Høyer.
