As the Singapore Sports Awards 2013 draws near, it’s time again for you to submit your nominations for the Best Sports Event of the Year (International) and Best Sports Event of the Year (Local).
Singapore is home to a plethora of world class sport entertainment events annually, both at an international level and in the community, and with over 600 events in our sports calendar, members of the sports fraternity have been spoilt for choice. While most events actively promote sports as a lifestyle, some have gone beyond basic endorsement to alter our sports landscape significantly.
The Singapore Sports Awards (SSA) are a series of annual awards that honour the achievements of Singapore’s sportsmen and sportswomen. Organised by the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC), the Awards were first given out in 1968 for sporting achievements in 1967. In 2012 the category of Best Sports Event of the Year was added to the SSA.
The Award was added to the SSA to give recognition to partners who have worked behind the scenes to shape Sporting Singapore by organising an event that has achieved excellence in impacting the community, through good project management and enabling sustainable growth.
The winning event would have contributed to the overall development of the local sports industry, enhanced engagement with community and corporate stakeholders, and boosted Singapore’s reputation as Asia’s top sports city.

Events would be judged on the following aspects:
a) Success of the event in delivering an outstanding and innovative experience for participants, athletes, officials and spectators
b) The overall marketing rollout including the event’s success in profiling Singapore as a vibrant city to live, work and play to an international and local audience
c) The event’s positive impact on industry or community development
d) Commercial viability and sustainability
