The Singapore Sports Council (SSC) launched the National Standards for Youth Sports (NSYS) last Friday at Jurong West Primary School, with the aim to the right mindset and behaviour for all parties involved in youth sports.
The NSYS asks of adults to be role models for the youth, while guiding them through their participation in sports, and using sports to impart important life values and lessons. The programme is expected to be carried out in 5 more schools throughout the first quarter of 2013.
Gracing the event on Friday was Indranee Rajah, Minister of State for the Law and Education Ministry. In her speech, Indranee highlighted the importance of the role of adults in the formation and participation of youth sports so as to drive Singapore towards a society of Sporting excellence and good values.
She said, “Singapore sportsmen and sportswomen have an important role to play and so do the parents and the coaches.”
