A netball team consists of up to 12 players with a maximum of seven players allowed on court at any one time. A team may take the court with a minimum of five players. There are seven positions available: Goal Shooter, Goal Attack, Wing Attack, Centre, Wing Defence, Goal Defence and Goal Keeper.

Netball is a non-contact game and is played on a rectangular court divided into thirds. The duration of the game is 60 minutes and played over four 15-minute quarters. There is a three-minute break between the first and second quarter and the third and fourth quarters. The half time break lasts either five or ten minutes and decided by the event organiser prior to the event. Up to two minutes is allowed for injury time.

Centre passes are taken alternately by the Centre of each team after each goal is scored and at the start of each quarter. Goals are scored by shooting the ball into the opposing team’s goal. The team with the most goals at the end of playing time wins the game.
