ActiveSG Basketball Academy School Holiday Programme

The programme introduces your child to the basic components of basketball where boys and girls learn, play and develop progressively through fun exercises and small-sided games.

Besides becoming more proficient in basketball, your child will acquire essential values such as teamwork, honour and resilience during sessions, thus developing a strong character and moral habits since young.

    Jr.NBA

    The Jr. NBA, the league’s global youth basketball program for boys and girls, teaches the fundamental skills as well as the core values of the game at the grassroots level in an effort to help grow and improve the youth basketball experience for players, coaches and parents. The program also instills the Jr. NBA’s core values of Sportsmanship, Teamwork, a positive Attitude, and Respect (S.T.A.R.), while teaching the importance of leading healthy and active lifestyles. The Jr. NBA program is free across all stages.

    Co-organized by Sport Singapore, ActiveSG Basketball Academy and the NBA, the Jr. NBA Singapore 2019 program for boys and girls is split into multiple stages:

    Learning the basics:
    Participants will learn the basic fundamentals of basketball including passing, shooting, and footwork drills.

    Showcase your skills:
    Through a series of selection trials, participants will be eligible for selection to represent Asia Pacific in the second annual Jr. NBA Global Championship held in the US from August 6-11 at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World near Orlando, Florida).

    Participants will be put through a series of skill Stations and scrimmages. The top 500 players will advance to the Selection Camp.

    Stage 2 - Jr. NBA National Selection Camp
    The top 500 boys and girls selected from the Selection Trial will compete for the chance to advance to the next stage of the Jr. NBA Singapore program, the National Training Camp.
    The top 200 boys and girls selected at the National Selection Camp will advance to the Jr. NBA National Training Camp.

    Stage 3 – Jr. NBA National Training Camp
    The National Training Camp is the finale to the Jr. NBA Singapore program and will feature an active or retired NBA player.
    The 2-day National Training Camp scheduled on 25 – 26 May at Heartbeat@Bedok will culminate with the selection of five boys and five girls who will be named as Jr. NBA Singapore All-Stars.

    Stage 4 - Jr. NBA Global Championship Asia Pacific Selection Camp
    The 2019 Jr. NBA Singapore All-Stars will participate in the first Jr. NBA Global Championship Asia Pacific Selection Camp, a 2-day event scheduled June 15 -16, will feature top youth players from the region. The top performing 10 boys and 10 girls between 11-14 (born between September 1, 2004 to August 31, 2006) will be eligible for selection to represent Asia Pacific in the second annual Jr. NBA Global Championship.

    Stage 5 – Jr. NBA Global Championship
    The Jr. NBA Global Championship is an annual youth basketball tournament for the top boys and girls teams from around the world. The 2019 Jr. NBA Global Championship features boys and girls divisions, separated into U.S. and international brackets. It begins with round-robin play and continues with single-elimination competition. The winners of the U.S. and international brackets will play in the world championship games on August 11, 2019.

    More than 300 boys and girls from 35 countries participated in the inaugural Jr. NBA World Championship in August 2018. During the weeklong event, all 32 teams participated in off-court activities including life skills sessions, Disney park visits, a community service project, and educational meetings with current and former NBA and WNBA players and coaches.

    In addition, to the above mentioned programme, through a series of training and participation in the Jr NBA 2019 and ActiveSG Basketball Seasonal programme, participants will stand a chance to be selected as the ActiveSG Basketball Academy will embark on an overseas experience trip in October 2019.     ActiveSG- BAS Basketball Development League 2019

    AthleticsThe ActiveSG Basketball Development League aims to provide participants with the opportunity to enjoy increased playing and learning opportunities, allowing him/ her to gain more competitive exposure for developmental pathway.

    Schools' basketball teams which did not qualify for the National Round of the Inter-School Basketball Competition and Fringe players (not in the main basketball team but are in the second team) are eligible for this league.

    Games will be played at Clementi Sports Centre (518 Clementi Ave 3, Singapore 129907) with Game fixtures as attached. Admission is free for all!

     

    ActiveSG-BAS National Masters Basketball Tournament 2019

    AthleticsCo-organised by ActiveSG Basketball Academy and Basketball Association of Singapore (BAS), the tournament provides a platforms for participants aged 40-49 years old to pit against other basketball enthusiasts and also to promote and encourage healthy living through sports.

    Games will be played at Singapore Basketball Centre (601 Aljunied Ave 1, #01-04, Singapore 389862) with Game fixtures as attached. Admission is free for all!
