Yu and Zhou started the day with a bang as they defeated their Laotian opponents easily in all 3 games. In their second match in the evening, they faced off against rivals from Vietnam. The Men’s team events were comparatively more intense and exciting, drawing cheers from the crowd. Representing Team Singapore is Li Hu, who kicked off the match competing against Laotian Phinith Kongphet, eventually winning the match with a score of 11-7, 11-7, 11-6. Clarence Chew, the home team’s second player, faced Thavisack Phathaphone, who proved to be a challenging competitor as there were several instances in which their scores were neck-to-neck. Chew slowly picked up his game and eventually caught up with his opponent and won rounds 2 and 3 at a close call of 11-9 and 11-7. The last player, Chen Feng ended off the whole match with a quick of 3-0.
The matches of Women’s Team between Malaysia and Thailand were more intense as their scores being tightly matched. However, despite the valiant efforts by the Malaysian’s led by Women’s Singles Silver Medalist Ng Sock Kim, it was of no avail due to their recovering injuries, with the Thais eventually sweeping all three games with clean 3-0 victories.
