Teenage Singaporean shuttler Loh Kean Yew earned a bronze medal after losing 0-2 to Malaysia’s Mohamad Arif in the men’s singles semi-finals.

Arif won the first set against the 18-year-old 22-20 and the second, 21-15. He has advanced to the finals, where he will take on compatriot Chong Wei Feng.

In men's doubles semi-finals, Danny Bawa Chrisnanta and Chayut Triyachart also put up a good fight before they were defeated 0-2 by Indonesia’s top pair (12-21, 18-21) leaving them with a joint bronze medal.

After a nail-biting finish, Team Singapore took the men's basketball bronze medal with a 54-49 win over Thailand at the OCBC Arena. 

Team Singapore was without captain Desmond Oh and forward Lim Shengyu and trailed Thailand 31-25 at half-time but the boys in red never gave up.

Team Singapore, bronze medallists two years ago in Myanmar, began the fourth quarter 41-38 down but a combination of strong three-point shooting and excellent defence allowed them to triumph.

Larry Liew top scored with 18 points, while Russel Low and Delvin Goh were key to the defence.

Team Singapore Sepaktakraw players added another joint bronze after missing out in the semi-finals in the men’s doubles. The team of MuhammadFarhan Bin Amran, Muhammad A'fif Bin Safiee and Asfandi Bin Ja'al lost out to Philippines with a score of 12-21, 21-19, 21-16. The team wrapped up the competition with a total of one silver and six bronze medals.
