Singapore’s synchronised swimming success continued on Thursday with a second gold medal thanks to a magnificent display in the Team Free Combination.

Performing to the lively jazz number, “Sing, Sing, Sing” by Benny Goodman, the team amassed a  total of 77.0667 points that put them well clear of closest challenger, Malaysia with Indonesia taking bronze medal.

On Wednesday Singapore had won their first ever SEA Games gold in the sport with their success in the Free and Technical Team event.

“We are very proud of ourselves to get two team golds and the silver in the duet,” said Stephanie Chen.

“We have brought up the standard of synchronised swimming in Singapore which now we have to work hard and maintain for the next SEA Games,” she added.

“It was very exciting to get down to this moment, the girls really did their best to get the gold medal,” said assistant coach Katsiaryna Kulpo.

“We weren’t over-confident. There was a lot of hard work that went into this,” she said.

The team comprised of Stephanie Chen, Natalie Chen, Lee Mei Shuang, Crystal Yap, Gwyneth Goh, Debbie Soh, Miya Yong, Geraldine Chew, Shona Lim and Tay Aik Fen led by  Belarussian coach, Maryna Tsimashenka.
