Thailand took home gold after defeating Malaysia in the Badminton Women's Team Finals today at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

In the first team singles match, Thailand sent their best, Ratchanok Intanon, who currently holds world ranking number five. Her Malaysian counterpart Lim Yin Fun fought hard against the stellar player, but Thailand ultimately took the first match with 2-0.

Next up was the doubles match, featuring shuttlers Supajirakul-Taerattanachai for Thailand versus Malaysia’s Anscelly-Soong. The Malaysian pair displayed outstanding agility and skills in the semifinals yesterday, and without disappointing their supporters, they were just as good today. To the crowd’s excitement, the Thai pair matched up to them. It was an intense match with fans cheering at every hit. In the second game at the 20-20 point mark, Thailand’s performance increased by several notches and they finally clinched the set with 22 points, and won Malaysia with yet another 2-0.

The third match saw Thailand’s Ongbumrungpan battling against Malaysia’s Ho, both 19 years old. The temperature of the stadium rose as fans were screaming throughout the match. Rally after rally, the match finally concluded in Thailand’s favour thus winning Thailand the coveted Gold for the Women’s Team. Following closely is the Malaysian team taking the Silver medal, whereas the Bronze medals go to Singapore and Indonesia.
