One of the many sports challenge series planned by ActiveSG to promote a healthier lifestyle for people, teams competed in six categories consisting of the Boy’s and Girl’s Under-14, Under-17, the Men’s Open and Mixed Open Corporate.
The concept worked a treat, as it attracted not only experienced players, but also newbies to the sport.

“I got to know this competition from a friend and we were thinking, why not we give it a try to gain more exposure. Since most of our friends never played in any league before, then this would be a good chance to see where our levels are at,” 32-year-old Han Jun Yuan shared.
Seventeen-year-old Nur Qistina (below, right) echoed similar sentiments, after attempting to compete in the Mixed Open, where she faced her male counterparts on the court.

“They are much bigger and way older than me and it was a different experience playing with the boys. They are much faster and you have to expect the unexpected,” Nur expressed.
“I think this competition organised by ActiveSG was a good experience on the whole. We get to play with people from other schools and learn from each other. It was fun!”
National floorball players who were involved in the event were encouraged by the number of new faces they saw, as well as the overall turnout.

“This competition provides opportunity for people who are new to floorball to gather, have fun and socialise,” Team Singapore Floorballer Gary Wong said.
“It is a good thing for the floorball community when everyone starts coming together to play the sport.”
The winners for the day were Popcorn and GAWP for the Men’s and Women’s open, while Deloitte J secured the Corporate Mixed category.
NSSB took home the Boys’ U17 title and Team Platinum did likewise for the female segment. Victoria School and Black Lions completed the list by finishing first in the U14 Boys and Girls categories.
