Young local athletes embark on a Valencia CF experience

Nine student-athletes recipients of the Singapore Olympic Foundation-Peter Lim (SOF-Peter Lim) Scholarship are heading to Valencia, Spain to participate in the SOF-Peter Lim Amunt Valencia Football Camp from 15 to 21 December 2015.

The training camp will be held at GloVal Academy at the Valencia Club de Fútbol (Valencia CF) Sports City. Participants will undergo a training programme delivered by experienced and knowledgeable trainers from the Valencia CF Academy. Other activities include the Mestalla Forever Tour, a friendly match against Monte Sion Football Club and watching the match between Valencia CF and Getafe Football Club on 19 December at the Mestalla Stadium.
The student-athletes, aged between 14 to 15 years old, were selected based on their conduct, attitude, discipline, and achievements in football. All nine student-athletes hail from Crest Secondary School who finished in second position in the ‘C’ division at the 2014 National Schools Football Championship. In addition to these nine student-athletes, there are eight student-athletes and four coaches from Crest Secondary School, Northlight School and St Joseph’s Institution (International) participating in this camp.
“We are very pleased that our Singapore Olympic Foundation-Peter Lim Scholarship recipients have the opportunity to participate in the Singapore Olympic Foundation-Peter Lim Amunt Valencia Football Camp. We hope this experience will encourage them to aspire for greater heights in sports and we hope they will enjoy the Valencian hospitality and culture,” said Mr Ng Ser Miang, Chairman of the Singapore Olympic Foundation, President of the Fundació Valencia CF and Director of the Valencia CF.

I can’t wait to train under the watch of the Valencia Club de Fútbol trainers and hope that I will be able to improve my football skillsafter this experience. I am very grateful to Singapore Olympic Foundation, Mr Peter Lim and Valencia Club de Fútbol for this special opportunity. I would also like to thank my school principal, my football CCA teachers and team mates for their support,” said Muhammad Zamanuriki Bin Mohd Zamnuri, 15, of Crest Secondary School.
The SOF-Peter Lim Scholarship has been supporting promising young athletes fromfinancially challenged backgrounds to help them achieve their sporting goals since 2011.
