Joseph Schooling will be back in the Asia Games medal hunt again on Wednesday evening in the Men’s 100m Butterfly – the event which brought him his historic Silver medal at the Commonwealth Games this year.

Schooling comfortably qualified for Wednesday's final after clocking 52.83 seconds. Schooling had already won a Bronze medal from the 200m Butterfly, and also took a fourth place finish in the men’s 200m Medley.

The 19-year-old boasts the fastest 100m Butterfly time in Asia this year with a timing of51.69 seconds that he posted in Glasgow - but he will have to be wary of Japan’s Takuro Fujii, who matched the Singaporean’s time in Wednesday’s heats.

Meanwhile, Rainer Ng will have to content himself with cheering on his teammate at the Munhak Park Tae-hwan Aquatics Center after his time of 56.53 was not enough to earn him a place in the finals.

That said, Singaporeans have another reason to cheer as another Team Singapore swimmer will be in action in the finals. Quah Ting Weng finished fifth in the Women’s 200m Fly with a time of 2:15.24. Her team-mate Tan Jing E unfortuantely narrowly missed out on a place in the finals after finishing with a time of 2:21.31.

Amanda Lim’s time of 2:03.89 was good enough for a creditable eleventh place finish in qualifying for the women’s 200m freestyle, but not enough for her to advance to the finals – Lynette Lim finished 14th in the heats with a time of 2:05.05.

Christopher Cheong Ee Hong did not progress from the 100m Breaststroke heats after his time of 1:04.68.

In the men’s 400m Individual Medley, Pang Sheng Jun finished ninth in the heats with a time of 4:35.84 while the 4x100m Freestyle Relay team were disqualified in their heat.
