Juventus stars enroute to Singapore

Italy Serie A champions Juventus FC have named a star-filled squad, headlined by Carlos Tevez, Arturo Vidal, Paul Pogba, Andrea Pirlo and recent signing from Manchester United Patrice Evra, for their much-anticipated clash with a Singapore Select side at the new National Stadium on August 16.

The big names took their seats on Singapore Airlines in Milan early on Monday morning.

New coach Massimiliano Allegri is bringing a 28-man squad on the Asia-Pacific Tour with games in Jakarta and Sydney ahead of the Singapore showdown.

Tickets - priced from S$45 to S$180 for adults and S$30 to S$45 for children – are on sale at Sports Hub Tix ( The match will kick off at 6pm.

The Juventus squad is an exciting mix of established stars, recent arrivals and gifted youngsters.

Eleven players - Pogba, Evra, Vidal, Pirlo, Gianluigi Buffon, Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci, Claudio Marchisio, Martin Caceres, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Kwadwo Asamoah - represented their respective countries at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil while strikers Tevez and Fernando Llorente are both internationals.

Tevez was top scorer for Juventus in Serie A matches last season with 19 goals while Llorente found the net 16 times, seven of them with headers. Chile’s Vidal, one of the most highly rated midfielders in the game, chipped in with 11 goals two of which were from the penalty spot.

Along with Evra, newcomers Roberto Pereyra, Romulo and Kingsley Coman have been named in the squad and will have the chance to impress Allegri ahead of the new season when Juventus will bid for a fourth straight Serie A title.

Juventus enjoyed a record-breaking season on their way to a third consecutive Serie A title. They won 33 games, including all 19 at home, and set a new league record of 102 points.
