Singapore’s women maintained their form in the waterpolo competition today, coming back strongly to beat Malaysia by 11 goals to 5.

Having played three days in a row, the home team showed some fatigue but held on to their credible lead.

Singapore will face the Thais who average 18 years and below in tomorrow’s Gold medal match. Having lost to them 4-6 on Sunday, the Singapore girls know that they’ll have to go all out if they hope to win the gold.

"Yes we lost to them (Thailand) once but that’s not gonna pull us down. We’re all pumped up and all prepared to meet them, so we’re looking forward to the game (tomorrow)" said Lynette Tan, Singapore Women’s Vice Captain.

"We’re feeling good. Really feeling good."

The women’s gold medal match begins at 3.00pm.

In the men’s exhibition match earlier in the afternoon, it was sweet victory for Singapore’s Under-17 men’s team who beat their Malaysian Under-23 opponents 8-6.

Playing all out, it was a good come back for the home boys who lost 8-9 yesterday to the same Malaysian outfit.

"Starting off we were a bit rocky but towards the end we knew we could come back – which we did! We gathered everybody to talk about it and we came back with all our hearts," said Scott Mark Widley, Singapore U-17 player who scored 5 goals in the exhibition match.

The men’s final best-of-three match will be held tomorrow at 1.00pm.
