There were happy faces all around as families and friends had a fun day out at the ActiveSG Sports Festival held at Hougang Sports Centre on Sunday.
The morning started with the community mass swim (below), water telematch and flippa ball at the pool. For those that were not a fan of water activities, they too had their fair share of enjoyment at the football field and sports hall.

Partnering the various National Sports Associations, ActiveSG provides the community with opportunities to live better through sport and creates a platform for continuous engagement with the community.
The Sports Festival did not only attract residents from the Hougang neighbourhood, but also those from the other end of the island.
For Nazari bin Muhammad, he took time off on Sunday morning to bring his little ones to have a kickabout at Hougang Stadium.
“You have to expose them from a young age,” said Nazari whose son trains regularly with Marsiling’s centre soccer club.
“So that they will be hooked to one activity and from there we can get potential players and athletes. Who knows, they will one day be representing their schools or even country.”
The Sports Festival also provided Ng Si Kai, a full-time national serviceman a much-needed break and respite away from the army camp.
“My friend and I always swim weekly and it is our recreational activity. When there is this mass swim event, we just wanted to have fun together,” commented the 20-year-old.
“It is a good initiative and it promotes the bond between friends. We swim, have fun and joke with one another.”
For those that did not have the opportunity to soak in the atmosphere at the Hougang Sports Festival, fret not.
There will be a Sports Festival at Jalan Besar Sports Centre on 7 June and visitors can try their hands on 5-a-side football, flippa ball, community mass swim, mini-tennis and mini-bowling.
