11 more athletes make the Commonwealth Games squad

The Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) has reviewed the appeals for the Commonwealth Games 2014. As a result, an additional 11 athletes (10 from gymnastics and one from weightlifting) will be making the squad that will travel to Glasgow, Scotland, in July. We caught up with one of the gymnasts, Daphne Chia (below), recently. Catch the interview here

Asian Games 2014

SNOC also announced that 210 athletes from 18 sports have made the first cut to represent Singapore at the Asian Games 2014 which will be held in Incheon, South Korea in September.

Singapore’s gold-winning sports at the last instalment of the Asian Games in Guangzhou; sailing, bowling, and swimming, are amongst these 18 sports.

Joseph Schooling (below), who is expected to give a good account of himself in Glasgow, has yet to make the squad but he and other Asian Games hopefuls have till 15 August to do so by being among the six best in their discipline.

The Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) Games Selection Committee met on 25 February to select athletes for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games.
