The Bloomberg Square Mile Relay will make its debut in Singapore on the 24th of October this year. The popular marathon relay, which originated from London, United Kingdom, will see teams of 10 runners racing through our Central Business District over an unconventional one-mile stretch.

Starting and finishing at The Promontory at Marina Bay, the race will see participants go through a series of unique challenges, from racing up stairwells to dashing between buildings and alleyways. There will also be a post-race party, where the winners will be celebrated and awarded with a $10,000 cheque that will be donated to charity.

Eccentric in its way, this race is set to be the first of many for Singapore. With Square Mile Sport hoping to duplicate this race in cities around the world, Singapore will be the first to set in motion the international expansion of this renowned race in alliance with IMG and Bloomberg.

Since its inception in 2007 on the streets of London, this prominent race has seen thousands of participants flurry to sign up for this avant-garde like marathon as it takes the runners on a historic journey through the Guildhall district. In the Singapore version, runners will be able to experience Singapore’s iconic skyline as they race through the evening.

“Bloomberg is proud to bring the Square Mile Relay to Singapore, one of the world’s leading business and financial hubs.” Said Nitin Jaiswal, Bloomberg’s Head of Sales for ASEAN and India. “The choice of Singapore as the next stop for the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay was a logical one and underscores our commitment to the region. It’s also a way for us to show our gratitude and give back to the community.”

The Bloomberg Square Mile Relay encourages those who are passionate about sports to come together and enjoy themselves. In partnership with SportCares, the philanthropic arm of the Singapore Sports Council, the race will give disadvantaged youths an opportunity to take part in this iconic event.
