Learning football the 'Real' way

13 May, 2013

It is every football fan’s wildest dream to play for a big club like Real Madrid. While it may a dream beyond reach for many, the next best thing would be to get trained in Singapore by coaches from the famed Real Madrid Sports City in Spain.

For the first time in Southeast Asia, Realmadrid Foundation CampusExperience offers intensive football training to youth aged between 7 and 17 during the June 2013 holidays. Beyond football skills, participants will be educated on leadership, self-control, humility, fellowship, effort, teamwork, respect, tolerance and solidarity – values which the Real Madrid brand stood for. These are universal values that bring success at school, in sports and in life.

Giving back to the community

As a means to give back to the community, the CampusExperience is supporting the SportCares Movement and Foundation (SportCares). SportCares is an initiative led by the Singapore Sports Council dedicated to providing opportunities for the vulnerable segments in society to grow and develop lifelong skill sets via quality coaching and greater access to customized facilities and programming.

The CampusExperience will provide one place at the CampusExperience to an underprivileged youth for every 20 players registered with the CampusExperience. This also marks the start of the Realmadrid Foundation’s long-term outreach to the Singapore community.

Said Mr Toh Boon Yi, Chief, Strategic Development and Marketing Group, Singapore Sports Council, “On behalf of the Singapore Sports Council, we would like to thank the Realmadrid Foundation for embracing and supporting the SportCares Foundation and Movement through the inaugural CampusExperience in Southeast Asia.

Since its launch last year, SportCares has enabled us to optimise the positive impact that sport can have on many diverse segments of our society, extending a hand to help more people live better through sports. I am sure the boys and girls from SportCares will be enthusiastically looking forward to being a part of the first CampusExperience under the world-renowned name of Realmadrid Foundation.
