Singapore plays host to the 2nd Boys Under-16 Asia Cup 2013 tournament this week. Taking place from the 4th to 7th of April, all matches of the 10-nation tournament will be played at the Sengkang Hockey Stadium.

Hockey fans here will also be the first in the world to witness the new modified FIH ‘Hockey 5s’ format in this tournament.

Singapore’s U16 boys, who’ve trained together since October last year, will look to use this tournament to qualify for the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China.

The other 9 teams making up the Asia Cup 2013 tournament are:
Pakistan (Silver Medallist and Asian Representative at 2010 YOG)
Chinese Taipei
Sri Lanka

Singapore’s boys have been drawn in Pool B, and will play their first match on Thursday against Bangladesh. They will take on Korea on Friday before finishing off the group stages with a game against rivals Malaysia.

All Singapore’s matches will be played at 11am on these days and entry to the games are free.
