Singapore, 22 March 2013 - Netball Singapore's national squad received a welcome boost on Thursday when the national sports association announced a lucrative sponsorship deal with leading sports company and long-time partner ASICS.

The deal will see ASICS equip the Singapore Netball National squad for the first time with the latest technical footwear, apparel and accessories for competitions held both locally and abroad from 2013 onwards, as the team looks to work towards the Asian Championships that will be hosted by Singapore in 2014.

Citing netball as one of the most popular sports in Singapore, Ryutaro Maruta, Marketing Manager of ASICS ASIA Pte Ltd said, “Netball players around the world swear by ASICS shoes. It (netball) is a sport played in almost every secondary school and remains one of the most popular women’s sports here. It’s time we gave the National Squad our best.”

The company already has plans to feature some of the National players in their advertisements across various platforms later this year with the deal now in place.

Netball Singapore’s Chief Executive Officer Cyrus Medora was delighted with the additional support which ASICS will be providing. “ASICS has supported Netball Singapore since 2009 and this extension of their sponsorship to kit our players from head to toe is a boost in the development for netball,” he said.

ASICS previously already provided support to Netball Singapore for the annual Nation's Cup and Cheers Netball Super League.
