A look inside the new Singapore Sports Hub
03 September, 2012
Home to future international events held in Singapore, the new Sports Hub will be one of the major highlights of the sporting scene in Asia, once it is completed in 2014. The dome-shaped 55,000-seater National Stadium comes with a retractable roof, two indoor arenas, and a 6,000-capacity indoor aquatic centre complete with 41,000 square metres of retail and entertainment space.
The impressive new complex has been designed to cater to both national level and international events, and will be the main arena when Singapore plays host to the South East Asian (SEA) Games in 2015, as well as the country’s annual National Day Parade.
World Sports Group, the company that manages the Sports Hub, has already planned a line-up of football, athletics and concerts upon its completion in 2014. The aim is to create new events that return on a very regular basis to draw some of the world’s best sports teams and entertainment celebrities.
One of the main attractions of the new Sports Hub is the National Stadium Club membership programme. Launched in September 2012, the programme offers unique packages for the Corporate Hospitality Suites, with each package offering VIP treatment and private facilities for its club members exclusively. This also includes VIP entrances, concierge services and priority excess to sporting and entertainment events.
