If you have a great sporting idea, we will provide you with a grant to make it happen.

From organising a mass event to an inspirational idea that positively impacts the community, we will offer you a grant of up to $50,000. We will also support you with sport packs and instructors/coaches to help you run your fitness/sports sessions in your events.

So whether it’s you and your group of friends, a school or an Organisation, together we can all play a part to get active and celebrate our National Day through sport. Start brainstorming your ideas today!


Criteria

What We Support?

We support events/projects that fulfil the following objectives :

  • Generate awareness on “Get Active! Singapore– Let’s Celebrate!” – a week long sporting bash to get people to come together to celebrate National Day as One Team Singapore through sport.
  • Reach out and engage the community in sporting activities through innovative/inspirational ways
  • Inspire and build habits of sports participation amongst your community
  • Organised and completed in Singapore during the period of 30 July to 7 August 2016
  • Organised in celebration of Singapore’s 51st birthday with a National Day celebratory element

Who We Support?

Interested individuals, schools, organisations and community groups could submit their applications from 10 May 2016 to 30 Jun 2016.

  • Groups must comprise at least two applicants aged 18 years and above, with at least one being a Singaporean.
  • Organisations must be registered in Singapore with the Registry of Societies (ROS) or the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA). One Singaporean applicant is required on behalf of the organisation.

How We Fund?

We fund up to 90% of qualifying costs, capped at $25,000 (project grant) / $50,000 (mass events grant), whichever is lower. Funds will be given in 2 tranches :

  • 1st tranche : 50% upon approval
  • 2nd tranche : 50% upon completion based on actual cost incurred from the qualifying cost list
All claims to be supported with original receipts at the end of the project/event. Submission of audited accounts may be requested for if necessary.

Cost items that we fund :
  • Professional services : e.g. development cost, production cost
  • Fee and Materials : e.g. rental of facilities, equipment
  • Marketing & publicity : e.g. brochure design, social media marketing
  • Direct operating costs

Cost items that we do not fund :
  • Expenses incurred outside of Singapore
  • Expenses incurred for any fundraising or crowdfunding events
  • Cash prize(s)
  • Capital expenditure
  • Expenses incurred from any form of religious/political activities

*This list is non-exhaustive. Sport Singapore reserves the right to reject cost items that do not meet the objective and eligibility criteria of the grant. To qualify for funding support, all project proposals must be non-profit in nature. In addition, support will only be provided to projects/events that are not funded by any other entity to ensure that there is no double dipping and more participants can benefit.

    Application Guidelines

  1. What is the application process like?

    Applicants will need to fill in an online application form if they are applying for endorsement support, or endorsement and sports expertise support. Applicants who are applying for funding support (under Project Grant or Mass Event Grant) will be required to download the application form and email it to ActiveEnabler@sport.gov.sg with the following details :

    • event/project proposal
    • event/project budget
    • any other supporting documents (in .jpeg or .pdf format)

    The Active Enabler Programme Secretariat will contact you once your application has been evaluated. Should your application be successful, you will be required to sign an Active Enabler Programme Agreement with Sport Singapore.

  2. When can I apply for the Active Enabler Programme?

    Application will be open from 10 May to 30 June 2016, 2359hrs.

  3. Can I apply for the Active Enabler Programme more than once?

    Yes you may, as long as your proposals are targeting at different groups of participants. Please submit separate applications for different proposals.

  4. Can I apply for two or more support within the Active Enabler Programme for the same event/project, which are held on different days?

    Each event/project is only entitled to one type of support, even if the event/project has activities spanning across different days. For each event/project, you can choose only one of the following types of support:
    • Endorsement only
    • Endorsement and Active Enabler Sports Expertise (Fitness/Sports)
    • Endorsement and Active Enabler Grant (Project)
    • Endorsement and Active Enabler Grant (Mass Event)

  5. I have problems accessing the Active Enabler Programme application online.

    You can download the application form and do a manual submission by emailing to ActiveEnabler@sport.gov.sg

  6. When will I know the results of my application

    Applicants will be contacted by the Active Enabler Programme Secretariat once your application has been evaluated.

  7. How will you determine the number of “Get Active! Singapore” Packs to be approved for each application?

    The number of “Get Active! Singapore” Packs will be approved in principle, based on the estimated total number of participants stated in your application form, under the section “Target Audience”. You will be contacted to finalise your participant outreach numbers nearer to event date.

  8. Can I request for more than the approved number of Get Active! Singapore Packs if the number of participants for my event/project turns out to be higher than my target?

    Refer to point 7. Requests for more “Get Active! Singapore” Packs will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis whilst stocks last.

  9. Funding Criteria

  10. How will you determine the amount of funding to give to each event/project for the Active Enabler (Project) and Active Enabler (Mass Event)? What is the minimum or maximum amount of grant that any group, school or organisation can apply for, for each event/project submitted

    All events/projects that meet the eligibility criteria for the Active Enabler (Project) and Active Enabler (Mass Project) will be considered for funding at up to 90% of qualifying costs, capped at $25,000 (for project) / $50,000 (for mass events), whichever is lower.

    There is no minimum amount. We welcome all big and small events/projects as long as it meets the eligibility criteria.

  11. How can my event/project be part of the Active Enabler Programme if it is already funded?

    Support will only be provided to projects/events that are not funded by any other entity to ensure that there is no double dipping and more participants can benefit. However, you may apply for support if you are able to introduce new component into your event which fulfils any criteria set for the Active Enabler Programme. You will have to indicate your current funding details (funding organisation, funding amount and funding status) in your application under the section “Project Budget”.

    The Evaluation Committee will assess each application on a case-by-case basis. Please note that to qualify for funding support, all event/project proposals must be non-profit in nature.

  12. Can I apply for the Active Enabler Endorsement and Active Enabler Sports Expertise for an event/ project that is already funded?

  13. How do I acknowledge “Get Active! Singapore” during my event? 

    You will be provided with the acknowledgment guidelines once your application has been approved. During the event day itself, you can also tag your event photos and videos with #GetActiveSG on social media.

  14. If my event/project is approved, when will I receive the funds to carry out the event/project?

    Upon approval of your event/project application, you will receive the funds in 2 Tranches:

    1st Tranche – The first 50% of the total approved event/project cost will be disbursed upon event/project approval, after the Active Enabler Programme Agreement has been signed with Sport Singapore. This is intended to give you some funds to kick start and execute your event/project.

    2nd Tranche – The remaining 50% of the total approved event/project cost will be disbursed upon event/project completion, supported by end of event/project report, proof(s) of deliverables/outcomes and relevant supporting document(s) such as receipts and invoices. Submission of audited/certified accounts may be requested.

    *The 2nd Tranche shall be calculated taking the actual expenses incurred, less the amount disbursed in the 1st Tranche. Should the actual event/project cost incurred be less than the amount disbursed in 1st Tranche, the balance amount must be returned to Sport Singapore.

    Note: The end of event/project report and supporting documents has to be submitted no later than 1 month from event/project completion.

    If all documents are in order, applicants can expect to receive the 2nd Tranche within 1 month from the date of submission of the end of event/project report and supporting documents. The total amount disbursed at the end of the event/project shall be based on the actual expenses incurred, with reference to the approved cost items.

  15. What if I spend less than the amount that my event/project was approved for?

    At the end of the event/project, the 2nd Tranche shall be calculated taking the actual expenses incurred, less the amount disbursed in the 1st Tranche. Should the actual event/project cost incurred be less than the amount disbursed in 1st Tranche, the balance amount must be returned to Sport Singapore.

    The total amount disbursed at the end of the event/project shall be based on the actual expenses incurred, with reference to the approved cost items.

  16. Active Enabler Sports Expertise

  17. What is this ‘Active Enabler Sports Expertise’ about?

    The ‘Active Enabler Sports Expertise’ aims to support you in your organisation of a fitness or sports activity through the provision of fitness instructors or coaches.

  18. How does the ‘Active Enabler Sports Expertise’ work?

    You can choose from the list of fitness and sports offerings under the Annex - Active Enabler Sports Expertise.

  19. Can I apply for more than one ‘Active Enabler Sports Expertise’?

    Yes you may, as long as your proposals are targeting at a different group of participants. Please submit separate applications for different proposals.

  20. Is there a minimum and maximum participation outreach for eligibility to apply for ‘Active Enabler Sports Expertise’?

    Yes there is. Refer to Annex- Active Enabler Sports Expertise for details on the minimum and maximum participation outreach for the various fitness and sports offerings.

  21. Active Enabler Sports Expertise – Group Fitness

  22. What is Group Fitness?

    Group fitness is typically described as exercise performed by a group of individuals led by certified instructor(s) in the respective fitness format or brand at the venue booked by the applicant.

  23. Where can I organise the Group Fitness session?

    You can organise the group fitness (dance, cardio, toning, wellness and functional fitness) session at gyms, fitness clubs, dance studios, open spaces, parks or other venues where a group of people can move around safely. For group fitness (aqua, in shallow water), you can organise the session at a shallow water pool between 0.9m-1.2m.

  24. What is a typical Group Fitness session like?

    Your participants are encouraged to arrive about ten to 15 minutes before the session starts so that the instructor can begin the session at the pre-agreed time. The session will typically start with a gentle warm-up session followed by the actual workout, and then a cool-down period.

  25. My participants are very new to Group Fitness. How will I know if we can keep up?

    Instructor(s) may offer modifications for exercises that are too difficult for individual students, and may be able to answer questions during class as well as to provide motivation.

  26. How long is the duration of a Group Fitness session?

    Group fitness session is typically between 50-60 minutes, depending on the format.

  27. How many Instructors will I be assigned for the Group Fitness session? 

    We will assign instructors to you in accordance to the pre-determined ratio of instructor to participants as shown below:
    • 20 to 100 pax: 1 instructor
    • Up to 300 pax: 2 instructors
    • 300 pax and more: 3 instructors

  28. Active Enabler Sports Expertise – Sports Clinic

  29. What is a Sports Clinic?

    A sports clinic is an activity that is designed with a prescribed set of curriculum and conducted by certified coach(es) to help improve players’ fundamental skills and game plan, building their enthusiasm for the sport and have fun while learning.

  30. How many Coaches will I be assigned for a Sports Clinic session?

    We will assign coaches to you in accordance to the pre-determined ratio of coaches to participants by sports types, as shown below:

  31. What else do I need to know before I apply for ‘Active Enabler Sports Expertise’?

    You will be responsible for all the logistics preparations, such as:
    • Venue
       - Booking of courts/studio/fields/pools
       - Group fitness sessions can also be organised at locations open spaces, parks or other venues where a group of people can move around safely
    • Sports equipment (yoga mats, footballs, basketballs, hoop, goalpost, rackets etc)
    • Sound system for group fitness (compatible with MP3 players, mobile phones, devices) and suitable to location
    • Wireless headsets for group fitness (for outdoor settings and participation outreach of more than 50pax)
    • Sturdy platform for group fitness (for participation outreach of more than 50pax)

  32. How will I know if I will get a sports expertise at the date and time requested in my application?

    Applicants will be contacted by the Enabler Programme Secretariat once your application has been evaluated.
