Chants of "ole, ole, ole" filled the National Stadium on Saturday (July 20) evening as over 50,000 Manchester United fans transformed the venue into a sea of red during Day 1 of the International Champions Cup.
The annual affair features top-tier English and European teams who travel around the globe as a pre-season promotional tour.
The teams walked out to a raucous crowd with household names Paul Pogba, David De Gea, and new signings Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka featuring for the Red Devils. New Inter coach Antonio Conte fielded a side peppered with fresher faces, with 17-year-old Sebastiano Esposito leading the line.
The only goal of the match came from Manchester United's 17-year-old super-sub Mason Greenwood, who scored in the 76th minute to seize the game from Inter Milan.

United's manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was full of praise for his team: "We’re getting better and better definitely. We’re about 3 weeks now pre season and we’ve been working on the intensity in training and the pressing. We’ve got players who like to press on the front foot. I don’t know how many times Jesse won the ball for us today. But he’s one of the best ones in that pressing football. And Marcus is also really good at it. You can see Anthony working hard and winning a few balls for us as well. It’s been very encouraging. That’s the way we hope to continue."
Said Antonio Conte, manager of Inter Milan: "The team showed a good spirit in and fighting for the result today. Though we didn’t get it. we’ve got a lot to improve in the moving and possession of the ball and pressing especially. We spent the past few days working really hard and we can’t only play friendly, we have to keep the training levels up and get ready for the new season."
